Kyklos is a privately held health-tech company based in the United Kingdom, developing innovative clinical decision-making software for modern healthcare. It was founded to transform how complex medical guidelines are translated into clear, actionable recommendations for clinicians and patients alike, and is best known for its next-generation Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS).
Kyklos platform combines clinical expertise with advanced technology to support evidence-based decisions at the point of care, enhance patient understanding, and improve outcomes by bridging the gap between detailed medical science and everyday practice. With a small multidisciplinary team, Kyklos emphasises high-quality development, explainable AI, and close collaboration with healthcare providers throughout the design process.
Why is Kyklos relevant to AIXPERT?
Kyklos develops and pilots an AI-powered Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) within the AIXPERT project to enable the sustainable, real-world implementation of clinical practice guidelines at the point of care. Deployed as part of Use Case 1, the Kyklos AI toolset integrates XAI to support clinicians in creating personalised, evidence-based treatment plans, while helping patients better understand and adhere to their care. The pilot will be operated in collaboration with Stichting Amsterdam UMC.
Key contributions and activities include:
- Developing the Kyklos AI toolset, a pilot AI-based system delivering explainable, guideline-aligned recommendations via the AIXPERT platform
- Integrating clinical guidelines, patient records, and preferences to generate transparent, personalised treatment recommendations
- Embedding AIXPERT’s explainability framework through modular AI agents for guideline interpretation, patient context analysis, and recommendation validation
- Improving usability and adoption by aligning with clinical workflows and addressing issues such as alert fatigue and poor UX
- Supporting shared decision-making through clear, patient-friendly explanations
- Leading pilot deployment in the Netherlands, alongside validation, societal impact assessment, and stakeholder co-design and evaluation
- Establishing a pre-AIXPERT baseline and evaluating accuracy, guideline alignment, and impact on clinician and patient understanding
